AzLA's Main Mission:

              A MAIN MISSION OF AZLA IS TO PROMOTE A DEVELOPMENT OF LIBRARIES IN AZERBAIJAN BY:

       - active involvement in cooperation with the world leading professional associations including American Library Association (ALA) and International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA);
       - being involved in regional cooperation with library associations of Georgia and Armenia, and cooperating with the associations of the other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and east European countries as well;
       - raising the awareness of the Azerbaijani librarians of recent developments and changes in the field;
       - providing different levels of training to local librarians;
       - introducing the international standards;
       - creating certain conditions and working with the international organizations acting in Azerbaijan towards automation of Azerbaijani libraries;
       - providing library advocacy and lobbying for libraries;
       - combining the efforts on creating certain conditions for Azerbaijan to enter a global information network.
